Communication with patients as well as their family members represents a guiding principle in our approach to nursing and care in general. Thus, “information and advice” are becoming an ever more important part of the everyday work of our caregivers.
Moreover, the demand for both medical and social advice and information is increasing continuously.
Thus, we ensure ample time for personal conversation in care support sessions, where we offer oncology patients and their family members care and nursing related information and advice during their in-patient stay. The care support sessions, which of course are voluntary, are carried out by specially trained nursing personnel. In addition to providing orientation for the patient and quality assurance, these sessions serve the purpose of knowledge transfer to other professional groups involved with the patient such as social services, psycho-oncologists, physical therapists and more.
